Prior to establishing Killeen & Associates Franchise Consultant Specialists in 2005, David enjoyed over 25 successful years in the retail and wholesale sectors, mostly at senior managerial level. As General Manager of the Retail Brands Division of Vantage Wholesale, David was jointly responsible for the launch and rollout of the Costcutter retail brand in Ireland.

Building on his many years of business knowledge and managerial experience, he gained further market leading specialist expertise in franchising through his appointment as Franchise Development Manager with Statoil for their proven forecourt food concept, Fareplay in early 2000. International Franchise consultants from the United States, who themselves had been involved in the development of a number of high-profile worldwide franchise offers, were commissioned by Statoil Ireland Ltd to assist, support and mentor David in the development of the Fareplay franchise programme and to coach him in best practice ethical business format franchising principles. It was through that association that David acquired the specialist knowledge and expertise in business format franchising that coupled with his prior expertise, enabled him to successfully build and launch the first pure business format franchise in the c-store sector in Ireland, under the Fareplay brand in 2002. 

In 2005, when Statoil took the decision to exit the Irish market, it provided David with an excellent opportunity to leverage his specialist hands on expertise in franchising and establish Killeen & Associates, as one of the first Irish Franchise Specialist Consultants here.
