Barry has accumulated exceptional hands-on experience of Global Franchising through 30 years working with McDonald’s, the world’s best-known franchise.
Working closely with franchisees and teams in various roles over many years including 12 years’ experience with McDonald’s Corporation and five years as Head of Franchise in Ireland with responsibility for 90% of the business. Experience gathered across all aspects of the business include Business Planning and Strategy, Project Management, People Strategy, Price and Place along with Marketing Strategies and was an active contributor to the planning strategy of the company.
Responsible in this time in introducing a franchise strategy for Ireland which has supported the brand growth and success and oversaw significant improvements in Operational Standards, Customer Recognition scores and sales growth across the organisation having results and franchises recognised globally within the system.
Significant project management experience in opening QSR Business and hands-on operational experience of managing businesses and teams across Ireland. Working alongside franchise Business Owners in supporting them in developing their business and teams to manage multi-site operations and oversaw the multisite growth program for McDonald’s.
Barry acquired additional experience with Musgrave Wholesale Partners as Head of Food Service Franchise investigating Food Service Franchise development and strategy for the organisation including the development of a team to support this program.
Barry’s passion is in supporting business owners to develop and grow their business and developing teams to succeed. He is a very active member of the Irish Franchise Association as a Director in a voluntary role for over seven years.
Barry has a degree in HR from University College Cork and completed a Project Management Program with MTU. Throughout his career in McDonald’s, he attended many auxiliary management courses in Europe and the US on Business Management and Franchising.
